After temperatures stepped back yesterday, the Valley will get right back into a mild pattern.

That's as high pressure is currently situated off to our east, digging mild air from the south up to the Valley. Temperatures in the 20s will quickly increase up to the low 50s, paired with a mainly sunny sky. These temperatures will make it feel like a spring day rather than one at the end of February. That’s as high pressure to our east will drag warmer air in from the south. Overnight, mainly clear skies will persist, with temperatures holding steady in the low 40s after the evening.

A cold front passage late on Friday will mean that temperatures on Saturday aren’t expected to be as mild. Clouds will also increase during the day. High temperatures could rise to 50.

Overnight, flurries will move into the Valley as a quick-hitting system crosses the Midwest. This system should match the system we got on early Wednesday morning, where there will be a quick burst of snow for a couple of hours. While snow totals have trended up in the last day or so, we’re still expecting an inch or so, especially on nonpaved surfaces.

Flurries may linger into Sunday morning. Wind will pick up, and temperatures will be well departed from the mild fling to end the week, as highs will drop back down to the low 30s.

We’ve been tracking a potential snowmaker to start the work week on Monday. Since last night, those chances have fallen off significantly as more weather modeling has favored a weaker, southern-moving storm. Still, some flakes could fall for those south of I-80, though accumulations above a coating are not likely at this point.

This will lead to another chilly day on Monday, though with the minimal threat of snow compared to this time yesterday. Highs will likely approach the mid-30s.

Tuesday will start a chain of days where rain will become likely. Some light yet widespread showers are possible throughout the day, spilling over into the evening.

It will be a little milder on Wednesday, with high temperatures close to 50. Some raindrops are possible during the day, and a little more likely overnight.

Our area will really warm up by Thursday, where high temperatures could get up to 60 in some spots. Showers, however, are expected during the day, spilling over to the evening, as well.
