The balmy weather that presided over eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania on Friday will stick around for the final day of February (and Meteorological Winter) on Saturday. With a good deal of sunshine, afternoon temperatures will be within a few degrees of 50 in most spots. More in the way of cloudiness is expected toward the end of the day as a cold front tracks toward the region.

The front is likely to bring some snow showers overnight into very early Sunday morning; some mixed precipitation will also be a possibility. Snow accumulations of up to a slushy inch or so can be expected, especially in locations that do not see any sleet or freezing rain.

Temperatures will not rise much on Sunday, despite an increase in sunshine as the day wears on. The next system will miss our area to the south Sunday night into Monday, but a midweek storm system will not follow suit. Rain is the forecast for Tuesday; with temperatures near freezing early in the day, freezing rain will be a possibility for a time.

After a chilly start to the work week, a significant warning trend is on the way for the second half of the week and the first full weekend of March.
