OIL CITY, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has lifted restrictions for certain vehicles on a stretch of Interstate 80 in Mercer County.

Tier 1 vehicle restrictions were placed on I-80 from I-79 to Exit 173 earlier Tuesday morning due to freezing rain. As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, those restrictions have been lifted.

Under tier 1 restrictions, the following vehicles are prohibited from roadways:

- Tractors without trailers

- Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank trailers

- Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem trailers

- Enclosed unloaded or lightly loaded cargo delivery trucks/box trucks that meet the definition of a CMV

- Passenger vehicles towing trailers

- Recreational vehicles/motorhomes

- School buses, commercial buses and motor coaches without available chains or another approved Alternate Traction Device on board

- Motorcycles
