The Department of Education looked to find out ways that the Campbell City School District implemented the Whole Child Framework in the schools, and how the methods can be used in the rest of the state.

Matthew Bowen, the superintendent of Campbell City Schools, met with the Ohio Department of Education and a panel from the Whole Child Work Group on Friday afternoon.

The purpose of the framework is to create an environment that helps students be healthy, safe, engaged, challenged and supported so they can be better prepared to achieve success.

Campbell has had a voice in the Whole Child framework since its inception, and Bowen is now seeking ways to expand collaboration with partners to build more Whole Child supporters and create greater opportunities for students. He is also looking for additional ways to develop a framework that other schools can follow.

"Our programs are expanding, they're growing, and we're really happy that the Department of Education Workforce chose to come and visit Campbell, Ohio, as what they may consider a model school district."

The Whole Child advisory board will hold another meeting in Columbus on April 24.
