SHARON - Runners laced up their shoes and enjoyed a sneak peek into spring weather Saturday morning at the 'Shamrock 'N Run' Annual 5K Run and Walk.

Participants received a race t-shirt, a commemorative race bib, participated in team challenges, and enjoyed live bagpipe performances.

Proceeds from the Shamrock 'N Run will benefit the Primary Health Network's Charitable Foundation's childhood literacy program.

The Foundation, which sponsored the annual event, works with Valley organizations that promote literacy in children and community connections.

"One of the things that we've really tried to focus on over the last several years is getting books into the hands of children. I grew up with a love of books and I really want to try to impart on every child in the community," said Dr. George Garrow, the CEO of Primary Health Network.

The event was held at a new location this year, which ran through Buhl Park. Participants were able to enjoy the event's festivities and finish the race before the day's anticipated rain showers.

"We're very mission-focused and just really, really happy and proud of everybody that came out to support us today. I want to say thank you to everybody," said Dr. Garrow.
