Mahoning Valley-based credit union expanding into Summit County

7/17 Credit Union, an institution that serves Ohioans in several Northeast Ohio communities, is now expanding its reach into Summit County.
Two new branches will be opening in Akron later in the spring season, according to a news release.
The first branch will open in Akron's Wallhaven neighborhood on April 6, which the release states represents a "significant milestone in 7/17's long-term growth."
A second branch will open in downtown Akron at 388 South Main Street later in the spring, bringing access to 7/17 Credit Union to the downtown area of the city.
"As we enter the Akron market, 7/17 is focused on putting affordability front and center. We are breaking down the barriers to home ownership, reducing transportation costs, providing best-in-the-country debt consolidation plans and providing the best CD rates in the country, with CD rates as high as 7.17 percent," said President and CEO John Demmler.
According to the release, the credit union plans on expanding services, announcing its "Ohio Strong" program during the Wallhaven neighborhood's branch opening.
Community members looking to find out more about the services and programs that 7/17 Credit Union offers, such as Ohio Homebuyer Plus savings accounts and debt consolidation, can do so through its website.
Branches can be found throughout the Mahoning Valley region, and can be searched for on the 7/17 Credit Union website.
