YSU women's basketball team falls to Green Bay in Horizon League Championship

YOUNGSTOWN - The Youngstown State University women's basketball team put up a fight, but ultimately lost to the top-seed Green Bay Phoenix in the Horizon League Championship in Indianapolis on Tuesday.
The final score was Green Bay 57, YSU 49.
Junior Paulina Hernandez led the Penguins with 12 points, followed by sophomore Sophia Gregory with 11 and senior Casey Santoro with 9.
On the defensive end, Santoro gathered a team-high 9 rebounds, Gregory following up with 7.
The team had a total of 7 blocks, 2 coming from Hernandez, 2 from Gregory, and 1 each for redshirt freshman Sarah Baker, sophomore Erica King and Santoro.
The Penguins had the second-most wins in program history this season, ending with 24 wins and 9 losses. YSU was on an 8-game winning streak prior to the championship game.
The Green Bay Phoenix will now advance to the NCAA Tournament. They will find out who their first tournament opponent is this Sunday.
