BOARDMAN - Students at Boardman High School are getting ready to rock the Boardman Performing Arts Center with their rock orchestra concert known as "Project Mayhem."

This year's event will take place on Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m. at the Boardman Performing Arts Center.

Similar to the world-famous Trans Siberian Orchestra, the group offers audience members an "arena-rock" experience, featuring renditions of a variety of hard rock classics some modern favorites.

This year's set will feature hard rock classics from bands like Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica, as well as other classic hits from artists like Janis Joplin, ABBA and Gloria Gaynor and some modern hits from artists like Myles Smith and Taylor Swift.

Project Mayhem was founded in 2006 and conducted its inaugural performance in 2007 for more than 1,000 fans. Since then, it's evolved into a full-scale professional production, featuring student vocalists, a professional laser light show and smoke cannons.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at Boardman High School between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to buy tickets early, as shows tend to sell out.

All proceeds from ticket sales are reinvested into the program to provide students with professional-grade music equipment.
