Afternoon showers Friday, but a warmer day overall

The warming trend that got underway Thursday will continue as the work week draws to a close on Friday. Temperatures will quickly rise into the lower 60s by early afternoon, but an approaching weather system is likely to trigger some showers during the second half of the day. A gusty thunderstorm can't be ruled out, although the risk for a storm may be higher to the south. Patchy fog will become a possibility overnight into early Saturday morning.
Aside from patches of fog early, Saturday should be a winner with a good deal of afternoon sun. Temperatures should end up at least 10 degrees above the seasonal average.
While Sunday will start on a dry note, the day could finish with showers and thunderstorms. A potent cold front will track toward Ohio and Pennsylvania during the second half of the day and will be the trigger for any wet weather the area picks up. Before any rain, it will be a May-like day with readings getting into the 70s.
A much colder day will follow on Monday; temperatures will be hard-pressed to get out of the 30s.
