After a months-long, confidential search, the Lake to River Economic Development has a new CEO. Dani Robbins comes to the organization with extensive background in nonprofit management and social justice.

A retail analyst told 21 News, when a group like Kohan Retail Investment Group purchases a mall, they often pay as little as possible in property taxes and utility bills, as they continue to collect rent from the remaining tenants.

A newly-released audit of the Girard city schools found it's former treasurer, Mark Bello, was paid nearly twice as much as had previously been uncovered after a creative change in contract language. 

21 News has now received "designation of treasurer" paperwork from the Ohio Secretary of State's office for the group that, while not providing much information, does include one man's name: Thomas Datwyler of Hudson Wisconsin. 

The building's landlord is Trumbull commissioner Rick Hernandez, who has repeatedly said that the investigation was "politically motivated."

But two members of the Lake to River board also have taxpayer-funded jobs, and the work they do with Lake to River often takes place during work hours.

The current contract runs until 2038, and the extension is estimated to cost between $10 billion and $22 billion.
