Consumers beware. The local home builders association says some contractors are only posing as members of the HBA.

The Home Builders Association of Mahoning Valley says it has received complaints about contractors lying to potential customers about membership to the HBA ... even putting the HBA seal on their business cards and contracts.

Official members are "required" to have liability insurance and worker's compensation to keep "homeowners" from getting sued.

The HBA recommends that homeowners call them at 330-965-9779 to confirm a contractor's membership.
