Franklin announces he's running for Warren mayor

WARREN, Ohio- A second candidate has announced his plans to run for Warren mayor when Michael O'Brien's term expires.
Doug Franklin announced his candidacy at an event at the Comfort Inn in downtown Warren on Monday night.
Franklin, who is the city's safety services director, said his seven years as a city administrator and 14 years on city council make him the best person for the job.
"That experience will be key in terms of me being able to work well with council. No matter what your ideas are, if you can't communicate them to council, nothing gets done. So, I think that's going to be one of my strong points," Franklin said.
Franklin, a Democrat, will face UAW 1112 president Jim Graham in the primary.
Councilman and former mayor Dan Sferra said he will make a decision on whether or not he plans to run after the holidays.
The deadline for candidates to file their paperwork with the board of elections is February 2.
No Republicans have announced their candidacies yet.
