BOARDMAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Federal government has rescinded a $600,000 grant given to  the Boardman Fire Department.

The department was expected to receive the federal grant to help re-establish the township's volunteer fire department by hiring 25 volunteers without costing taxpayers a dime.

However, inaccurate information on the application about whether or not volunteers were working for the department at the time of the application caused the government to rescind that grant.

The township plans to re-apply.
