Fuse box explosion causes smoke to fill basement of Hermitage home

HERMITAGE, Pa. - Fire crews responded to a home in Hermitage, Pennsylvania for a possible basement fire.
According to Hermitage Police Department dispatch, several units were on the scene of a home in the 900 block of South Darby Road in Hermitage.
According to the dispatcher, the call came in at 11:48 a.m. on Saturday.
The dispatcher told 21 News that the call came in as a report of a basement on fire. The Hermitage Fire Department Chief later went on to tell 21 News that the incident was more of an electrical fire.
According to the Hermitage Fire Chief, the fuse box that was located on the side of the home exploded and caused smoke to fill the basement level of the home.
The incident caused an estimated $25,000 in property damage, according to the fire chief.
Additionally, officials say that the first floor of the home did sustain some smoke damage as a result of the incident.
No injuries were reported.
