PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia transit bus has burst into flames while parked on a layover near the city's sports complex.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority says no passengers were on board and the driver was standing outside when fire engulfed the Broad Street Night Owl bus around 1:17 a.m. Friday.

No injuries were reported.

SEPTA spokeswoman Heather Redfern says the fire was so intense it melted a nearby electric pole, causing it to fall onto the bus.

She says the bus is being towed to a depot and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Other Night Owl buses continued running as scheduled and there were no disruptions to the service, which takes over when the Broad Street subway line shuts down from around midnight to 5 a.m.
