Marsico, who was elected to office in 1997, was re-elected four times serving 16 years.

Marsico received several awards for bridge rehabilitation and other projects.

He was inducted into Woodrow Wilson Hall of Fame in May.

Mahoning Commissioner David Ditzler says Marsico brought integrity to that Office and did a great job for the public for years.

"He came into office at a turbulent time with Fergus leaving office. Dick really came in and did an excellent to restore trust and faith to the office. He worked hard to do that as well," said Ditzler.

Marsico's wife Patricia says Richard treasured his family the most.

She adds her husband was not a politician and what mattered to him was a job well done.

A scholarship fund will be established in the name of Richard A. Marsico for students of Engineering.
