GREENE TWP., Trumbull Co., Ohio - A missing Trumbull County teenager has been located following an afternoon-long search in two counties.
Authorities found Adam Burgard just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in a field off Bunker Road about three miles north of State Route 87 and Dennison Ashtabula Road near Orwell.
Investigators say the teen was not harmed, even though there were broadcasts on the police radio that the boy had been kidnapped by a white male with an Italian accent and then tied to a tree.
Authorities later said there was no kidnapping, but did not discuss the source of the earlier information that a kidnapping had occured.
"There's a lot of questions in the way he was found. We will put it that way," said Major Thomas Stewart with the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department. "There are a lot of things we're going to find out after we talk to the young man in length."
Authorities say Burgard left for a run at about 8 a.m. Wednesday with the Maplewood cross country team.
Burgard did not return from the eight mile run. Authorities say he fell behind the group and was last seen around 9:30 a.m.
The Ohio Attorney General's Missing Persons Unit issued an endangered missing child advisory for the fifteen-year-old Wednesday afternoon.
A helicopter from the Ohio Highway Patrol assisted the searchers.
