HARRISBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity has announced the second round of Money Match checks have hit residents' mailboxes and is encouraging recipients to cash them.

The checks total more than $9.2 million and allow for the PA Treasury to return unclaimed property to its rightful owners automatically. Residents with unclaimed property were sent notification letters in May.

The Money Match program was approved unanimously by the General Assembly and signed into law in 2024. It authorizes the Treasury to automatically return single-owner properties valued at up to $500.

"It's exciting to see so many people getting money they didn't know they had. It's now important that people cash these checks. We want everyone to know this is a real program and this is real money," Garrity said.

Unclaimed property includes things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, safe deposit boxes and more. In most cases, state law requires businesses to report unclaimed property to the Treasury after three years of dormancy.

Money Match checks will be distributed quarterly. The next batch will include about 40,000 letters and will go out in August.
