Warren police investigate damage to Packard Park
WARREN, Ohio - Police are trying to find out who damaged a Packard Park building in Warren Sunday morning.
Warren City officers say a park employee came in to work and discovered broken glass in the Packard Shelter House as well as miscellaneous damage throughout the park.
According to the police report, an unknown suspect used ash trays to break the shelter's main glass doors. Rocks were also thrown through the building's side windows.
Police say that there is no evidence of the suspect entering the shelter or damaging any other buildings.
Warren Operations Superintendent Frank Tempesta says that a total of eight panes of glass and two windows were broken in the incident.
Although the city does not yet have a cost estimate for fixing the damage, Tempesta says Sunday's incident was the first time there has been damage to such an extent at the facility.
Repairs, according to Tempesta, are expected to be taken care of in the next two weeks.
In addition to the broken windows, police say all of the park's garbage cans had been knocked over, and a set of bleachers near one of Packard's four baseball diamonds was overturned.
Warren police continue to investigate the incident. Officers say there are currently no suspects or surveillance footage of the event.
