Power restored to Route 224 business district in Boardman
Power was restored to the Shops at Boardman Park after being out for around three hours Monday.

Power was restored to the Shops at Boardman Park after being out for around three hours Monday.
Boardman Assistant Fire Chief Brian Barber says they were called out to Ulta Beauty around 8 a.m. for smoke in the building. The fire department determined the problem was caused by one of Ulta's heating, ventilation and air conditioning units.
While investigating the problem at Ulta, the fire department discovered a similar problem with Five Below's HVAC system, where a small fire was put out.
Barber explained that there was a power outage at the intersection of Route 224 and Southern Boulevard, which caused the HVAC systems to run at different speeds, causing them to overload.
Barber said this overload is what caused the smoke in Ulta and the fire at Five Below.
The fire department checked other businesses in the area for HVAC overload as a precaution. Barber said the north side of 224 also had a few outages, but they were sporadic, unlike the Shops at Boardman Park.
During this time, traffic was restricted at at Route 224 and Southern Boulevard while FirstEnergy crews repaired the equipment that caused the outage.
Barber said power was restored to the businesses around 11:05 a.m.
