YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - WFMJ has been nominated in eight categories for the 2015 Ohio Associated Press Broadcast Awards.

The annual APME awards represent the finest work of Ohio reporters, editors, photographers and illustrators, according to the Associated Press.

WFMJ Today co-anchor Lauren Lindvig and photojournalist Patrick Connelly are nominated for Best Feature Reporting for "How It's Made," a series showcasing how various goods are made at businesses in the Mahoning Valley.

Reporter Michelle Nicks and photojournalist Samuel Easton are nominated for Best Broadcast Writing for "Seals Training," a story about the Salem football team learning team building skills through Navy SEALS.

Photo journalist Robert Meluch is nominated for Best Photographer and Best Use of Photography for a compilation of his work.

Assistant News Director and 6 and 11 p.m. news co-anchor Derek Steyer is nominated for Best Reporter.

Executive producer Sheila Miller is nominated for Best Coverage of a Scheduled Event for "OSU National Championship," a half-hour broadcast before the big name that gave local flavor to a national event.

Reporter Janet Rogers and photojournalist Michael Petrucci are nominated for Best Investigative Reporting for "Triple Fatal Fire," a story that investigated charitable donations related to the murder of 10-year-old Corinne Gump and her grandparents.

WFMJ has also been nominated for Best Sportscast for a compilation of coverage including the Overtime Report, Penguin Gameday and a commitment to local sports.

Last year, Nicks was awarded second place for Best Investigative Reporting, Kate Keller and Easton were awarded second place for Best Documentary or Series, Steyer won first place and Meluch was awarded second place for Best Use of Photography, and Nicks and Mikulas were awarded second place for Best Broadcast Writing.

This year's awards will be presented at the May 15 Ohio Associated Press Media Editor's Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet in Columbus.
