COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Supreme Court will not grant a new trial for a man who has been on death row since 1999 for murdering a Youngstown bar owner.

Fifty-one-year-old Scott Group had asked for another trial, arguing that he had ineffective legal counsel when he was convicted of aggravated murder, robbery and intimidation for the the 1997 shootings of Robert Lozier and his wife Sandra during a robbery at their Downtown Bar, which the two operated.

On Wednesday, the Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice issued a one line statement saying after consideration Group's application for reconsideration had been denied.

Scheduled execution dates for Group have been delayed twice. No execution further execution date has been set.

According to investigators, Group was a delivery man for a wine company when he shot the two as they were counting money at their bar on January 18, 1997.

Robert Lozier died. His wife survived the shooting.
