LIBERTY TWP, Ohio - A Sharon High School student was killed Friday evening in a rollover accident on Interstate 80 in Liberty Township.

State Troopers say a car veered off the left side of the eastbound lane. The driver over corrected and clipped a tractor trailer, before flipping over.

Troopers say Monica Griffin, 35 of Sharon, was driving the car.

Two fifteen year old girls were passengers, one of whom suffered fatal injuries.

Griffin and the other teen were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Witnesses say they rushed to help.

"Two were lying in the median and one was running around on the highway delirious, cut up and bloody and we performed CPR on the other two and unfortunately one of them passed away," said Witness Jared Stump.

While the young girl who died has not yet been identified by name yet, we can report that she was a Sharon High School student going into 10th grade.

School administrators say there will be grief counselors at the school Saturday morning at 9 a.m. for any friends or students who need help. Students should enter through the school's main doors.

Another accident near the crash scene occurred when a driver tried to apply his brakes to avoid traffic which had backed up on the highway.

The driver says the brakes didn't work properly. The car went into the median and slammed into a concrete barrier. The driver and a passenger were not seriously injured.

"It definitely makes me, makes you appreciate life, appreciate your friends and your family and the good will of strangers to stop and help," said Strump.
