WHEATLAND, Pa. - The Mercer County Coroner has ruled the death of a worker at a Wheatland sawmill as accidental
Hermitage Police and EMS personnel were called to Omega Inc., on Council Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. Monday.
Police say a 37-year old Amish worker was impaled with a piece of wood, likely from a “kick back” while operating a piece of saw mill equipment.
Coroner John Libonati says Steven Yoder of New Wilmington died from trauma to the head.
Yoder died as a result of his wound despite wearing safety equipment, according to police.
