Brookfield names new fire chief

The Brookfield Township Fire Department will have new chief as of October.

BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Brookfield Township Fire Department will have new chief as of October.

Trustees on Friday hired David Masirovits of Ladson, South Carolina to fill the spot left vacant with the retirement of former Cheif Keith Barrett.

Masirovitz is originally from Ashtabula but has been serving as a firefighter, paramedic, and Captain with the Goose Creek City Fire Department in South Carolina.

Masirovits was chosen from 18 people who applied for the job through the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association.

He'll take over officially on October 1 after going through a background check and physical examination.
