Nearly 1,900 new students to attend YSU's IGNITE orientation
Students are back on campus at Youngstown State University and now nearly 1,900 first-year students are signed up to attend an orientation program to help them adjust to college life.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Students are back on campus at Youngstown State University and now nearly 1,900 first-year students are signed up to attend an orientation program to help them adjust to college life.
YSU will have its 4th annual IGNITE orientation on Monday and Tuesday to get students ready for fall classes that start on Wednesday, August 22.
During the program, students will enjoy activities including "Class Find" tours, pizza with President Tressel at the Pollock House and the annual Spirit Session at Stambaugh Stadium, where students will participate in the tradition block-Y photo.
Also included is a presentation by Zach Mercurio, author of "The Invisible Leader: Transform Your Life, Work and Organization with the Power of Authentic Purpose" and the founder of PurposeSpeaks.com.
Meanwhile, "On Cloud Y" is the theme of Welcome Week as YSU kicks off the 2018 to 2019 school year.
Events for welcome week include a hiking challenge in Mill Creek Park, a block park in Kilcawley Center, a silent disco dance, corn hole on the campus core, slip and slide, Tic-Tac-Yo, Latin and Hispanic dance night, tie-dye shirts, puppy palooza, free root beer floats, the Woodstock Welcome Barbecue, a zip line down Hazel Street and much more.
