Another prison has employees, inmates treated for unknown substance exposure

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a substance exposure at the Ross Correction Institution, Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in Chillicothe, Ohio.
According to a press release, the facility is secure and there is no safety threat to the public.
Officials released information stating that on Wednesday around 9:10 a.m., first responders and police responded to Ross Correctional Institution after there were reports of correctional officers and inmates possibly being exposed to an unknown substance.
The press release informed that as of now, there were a total of 24 people, including correctional officers, nurses, and inmates who were exposed. No one has died.
All of those exposed to the substance is reported to be responsive and are currently being treated at Adena Regional Medical Center.
Reports stated that several doses of Narcan were given to the victims, and an additional 300 Narcan doses are available at the facility.
Officials said that this incident remains under investigation, along with similar incidents that have taken place in recent weeks.
This incident follows the Mercer County Correctional Institution's recent lockdowns after employees and inmates became similarly ill from exposure to an unknown substance.
The Mercer County facility went on lockdown Monday, August 6 after an incident where six employees were taken to Grove City Hospital for treatment after coming into contact with a suspicious substance. One of these employees needed Narcan for treatment.
There have been several other lockdowns in recent weeks after people within the prison were exposed to a substance that has still not be identified.
It is unknown if these incidents are linked
Officials continue to investigate and work to stop these occurrences.
