New business moves into former Austintown Kmart building
There's a new life for another one of the former Kmart stores that have closed in the Valley.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - There's a new life for another one of the former Kmart stores that have closed in the Valley.
The building that was home to the Kmart in Austintown until earlier this year, is now becoming part of U-Haul's effort to re-purpose former big box stores around the country.
Several trailers have already been moved into the parking lot at Mahoning Avenue and Raccoon Road.
In addition, signs have been erected designating the area in front of the store as a rental drop-off point.
Inside the building are some handcarts and other moving items that the nationwide franchise has become famous for.
There's lots of space remaining in the building. Austintown Zoning Inspector Darrin Crivelli tells 21 News that U-Haul told township officials it planned to install climate-controlled storage facilities.
U-Haul spokesperson Alissa Nider tells 21 News that they plan to begin construction of the storage area soon, but for now, the rental business is open from 9 to 5, seven days a week.
According to prior news releases, U-Haul has converted former KMarts in Idaho and Illinois into rental and storage facilities.
