Warren couple serving time for crimes against animals

WARREN, Ohio - A Warren man sentenced for after authorities say he posted a Facebook video of himself skinning a dog could be out of jail in a month, not long after his girlfriend completes a sentence for another crime against animals.
Stark County Court records show that a judge will consider judicial release for 46-year-old Scott Winter after he spends 30 days in jail.
Judge Taryn Heath sentenced Winter to a year in jail on Monday after pleading guilty to violating Ohio's law protecting companion animals.
Under Ohio law, a judge has the option of considering the release of prisoners under certain circumstances.
Winter was arrested in Warren in August on a warrant issued by authorities in Canton after the video appeared on Facebook showing a dog being skinned as it was hanging from a tree.
When Warren Police arrested Winter, they also charged his girlfriend, Victoria Young for lying to them about a charred dog skull and bones found in a fire pit outside their Palmyra Road home.
After first telling police that the bones were from a steak and chicken, she later admitted it was the skull of her dog.
Young was found guilty of animal cruelty and falsification and is currently serving a 90-day sentence in the Trumbull County Jail.
She is scheduled to be released on October 27.
