YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Maurice Clarett, former Ohio State University running back, purchased the property at 420 Oak Hill Avenue Tuesday.

Clarett purchased the property for $150,000 from Youngstown Ohio PSC, LLC.

Plans have not yet been finalized for the nearly 30,000 square foot property, but Clarett is planning to renovate it in a way that positively impacts the community.

"Youngstown has given me so many things in my life," Clarett said. "I'm committed to doing what I can to give back to this city and this community while helping to rebuild lives and strengthen our community. I hope to be able to announce future plans for this space in the coming months."

Clarett's charity, The Red Zone, is headquartered less than two blocks from the Oak Hill building.

The Red Zone was founded by Clarett in 2016 and provides mental health, recovery and school-based social services to both adults and children. Additionally, the charity employees nearly 100 people in Youngstown and Columbus.
