Shenango police look for owner of iguana
Police in one Lawrence County community are on the lookout for the owner of a lizard.

SHENANGO TOWNSHIP, Lawrence Co., Pa. - Police in one Lawrence County community are on the lookout for the owner of a lizard.
The Shenango Township Police Department has been caring for a two-foot long iguana since Monday when an officer found it along a dead-end street.
One of the officers have been feeding the lizard strawberries and lettuce as they wait for the owner to come forward and claim the animal.
According to nationalgeographic.com, iguanas are among the largest lizards in the Americas, averaging around 6.5 feet long and weighing about 11 pounds.
Most captive iguanas die within the first year, and many are either turned loose by their owners or given to reptile rescue groups, according to National Geographic.
Police are asking the owner call the department at 724-654-2243.
If no one claims the iguana, police say they'll look for a new home for the animal.
