A second grade Newton Falls Elementary school teacher has resigned after 'being under the threat of termination or non-renewal' and being accused of coming to school under the influence of an 'illegal substance.'

Second Grade teacher, Kimberly Ault, has given the Newton Falls school board her letter of resignation after being accused of going to school under the influence of an illegal substance on May 7.

A letter from Superintentdent of the Newton Falls School District, Paul Woodard, states Ault was relieved from her duties with pay effective May 7.

According to school records, Ault showed up to school on May 7 and told the school secretary that she was sick and needed a substitute. It was reported that Ault's speech was slurred and she seemed to be under the influence of something.

After hearing about Ault Newton Falls Elementary school principal, Tom Sullivan asked Ault to take a drug test but advised her that she did not need to consent to one. Ault ultimately agreed to the test.

According to the report, Ault did a urine test and it allegedly tested positive for an 'illegal substance.'

During a meeting with Sullivan on May 22, Ault gave her resignation letter that says that it will begin August 1, 2019.

Ault's resignation letter says that she is leaving the district due to 'personal reasons.'

The school board will vote on Ault's letter of resignation on Friday, May 24 at 7 am.
