SALEM TWP., Mercer Co., Pa. - A man and woman from Greenville were injured after police say they were thrown from their Amish buggy when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck.

State Police said 36-year-old Ervin Detweiler and 31-year-old Martha Detweiler were taken to UPMC Greenville after the buggy they were in was hit by a Dodge Ram pickup truck that had just driven over a hill on Methodist Road and was unable to stop.

A 1996 Chevy that was stopped next to the buggy was also struck by the truck, according to police.

The drivers of the Ram and the Chevy were not injured.

Robert Alexander, 36, of Greenville has been cited for not driving at a safe speed.
