Poland man threatens to kill himself and family
Police in Poland say a man tried to forcibly gain access to a gun safe to shoot himself and his family late last month.
Mark Kaschak, 53, was arrested on charges of domestic violence and felonious assault.
Police responded to the 6000 block of Pawnee Place in Poland at around 3 p.m. on Oct. 30.
According to the police report, Kaschak's wife stated her husband was trying to gain access to the gun safe and kill the entire family.
When police entered the home, they found Kaschak using a grinding tool to try and forcibly gain entry to the gun safe as his wife was holding the keys.
Police were able to apprehend Kaschak and remove him from the home.
He told police that due to ongoing money problems, he wanted to end his life but had no intention of hurting his family.
Kaschak's wife also claimed her husband had been drinking before the incident and had shot ten rounds from a BB gun at her, although none of them struck her.
Kaschack is currently being held in the Mahoning County Jail.
