Former UAW president resigns union membership
Former United Auto Workers union President Gary Jones has resigned from his 44-year union membership Friday.
Jones was under internal investigation and facing UAW Article 30 charges for corruption in office.
He stepped down as president on November 21 following the UAW's International Executive Board move to expel Jones and Vance Pearson, regional director, from the union.
Federal investigators raided his Detroit home in August.
The charges stemming from UAW Article 30 would have ousted Jones from office and his membership.
