Since early March,  Belmont Pines Hospital, on Churchill Hubbard road, has not allowed visitors into the hospital in an effort to protect the patients and staff.

Every person entering the hospital is screened.  The screening includes a temperature check, a series of health-related questions and questions regarding travel.

Lisa Cocca, Belmont Pines' CEO, says to date, no patients or staff have exhibited any symptoms of the coronavirus.   Should a patient come down with symptoms, they would be transferred to a medical hospital.

The lockdown restrictions are not affecting how the hospital conducts business.  Cocca says the hospital has always used Zoom for some family sessions and that continues in earnest now.

The hospital also continues with its day treatment program.  This program has clients coming in and out daily but Cocca explains that this program has a separate entrance from those who stay in the facility.  Therefore, they are not coming into contact with each other.

Like all hospitals, Belmont Pines is asking for any donations when it comes to personal protective equipment (PPE).  They are not asking to receive equipment before the medical facilities get what they need.

They ask that if anyone has any leftover equipment that they keep them in mind.  They are also willing to accept hand-made masks.   Cocca says they want to be prepared should they be required to help out and provide some beds should the local medical hospitals become full.   You can call the hospital at 330-759-2700 if you have some PPE to donate.
