The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown have sold a property to a local winery.

The 27-acre property, located at 3014 Logan Avenue, was sold to Woodland Cellars Property LLC on April 15.

The Logan Avenue property was purchased under the guidance of Bishop Tobin on September 19, 2003 from the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown originally planned for the property to become a pastoral center but that vision never materialized.

Nate Wilson, the owner of Woodland Cellars, said they were in negotiations for eight months before acquiring the property. He said they worked with the Mahoning Valley Economic Development Center throughout the process.

Wilson intends to transform the property into a vineyard and winery.

The property includes two mansions that Wilson hopes to transform into a place for dining and receptions.

They are working to clean up the property currently as it has not been used in more than a decade.

Wilson told 21 News that he hopes to have the property ready to go sometime in June.

That date could potentially change due to the coronavirus pandemic.
