Austintown trustees approve purchase of fire engine
According to trustee Jim Davis and Fire Chief Andy Frost, the purchase of the used 2006 engine saved nearly $300,000 as a new fire engine would cost around $450,000.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Austintown trustees approved the purchase of a fire engine for the Fire Department Monday morning.
The truck was purchased for $149,900 from a volunteer department in New York and has less than 30,000 miles.
According to trustee Jim Davis and Fire Chief Andy Frost, the purchase of the used 2006 engine saved nearly $300,000 as a new fire engine would cost around $450,000.
Trustee Davis says that while the engine is a 2006 model, the mechanics in the truck are actually better than a newer engine.
