Macy's at the Southern Park mall got a sidewalk makeover Saturday.

This morning prior to the mall opening Morgan Cherne, a senior at Boardman High School, was busy using her artistic skills creating some chalk art to welcome shoppers back to the mall.

Macy's says the community and customers have been overwhelmingly positive. And adds they are patient and understanding.

Mary Dulay sales manager at Macy's said, "We opened Monday and the response from the community has been so overwhelmingly positive and our customers have demonstrated their loyalty. It's almost a feeling of the holiday season, hustle and bustle, customers are happy to shop. "They are patient, understanding, it's such a positive feeling about the Valley!"

Dulay says the store is having sales to move through stock that has been sitting on the shelves over the last few months.
