Beating the heat on the hottest day of 2020

Along with some pop-up storms Thursday, the high temperature in the Valley reached 94 degrees, making it the hottest day of 2020.
Shortly after 8 p.m. and temperatures still in the 90s, It's no wonder there was a line and plenty of people sitting outside Handle's ice cream in Boardman.
"TODAY I SPENT A LONG DAY OUTSIDE AND I GOT TOGETHER WITH MY FRIENDS WHO WERE JUST FINISHING WORKING AND WE DECIDED THE BEST WAY TO FINISH OFF A LONG DAY IN THE HEAT WAS TO FINISH OFF WITH SOME WONDERFUL HANDLES ICE CREAM."
And just down the road at Mill Creek Park, the one family coming off the trail said this is the best time of day to beat the heat.
"IT'S ACTUALLY KIND OF NICE OUT HERE, EVEN IN THE HOT WEATHER. YOU GOT SHADE YOU CAN SEE ALL THE ANIMALS OUT HERE. IT'S KIND OF NICE."
From there though the family loaded up to head home, unfortunately, to one whose air conditioning just recently called it quits.
"THE GUY IS COMING TOMORROW TO HOPEFULLY GIVE US SOME GOOD NEWS ANYHOW, BUT RIGHT NOW WE WILL PROBABLY BE SLEEPING IN THE BASEMENT TONIGHT BECAUSE IT IS WAY TOO HOT IN THE HOUSE."
