GIRARD, Ohio - One local fire department is receiving more than $100,000 to keep staff at their current level.
According to the release, the Girard Fire Department will receive $135,580.95 to keep the current staffing level or increase it if needed.
Congressman Tim Ryan announced the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant, which is provided through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
"These men and women put their lives on the line day in and day out to protect our community. This important funding will ensure they have the support they need," said Congressman Ryan.
