Garrettsville man to serve two consecutive life sentences in rape of children

On Tuesday, March 9, in the Trumbull County Common Pleas courtroom of Judge Ronald J. Rice, 33-year-old Edward Wymer was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences plus 33 years additional for raping three young children over a two-year span in Trumbull County.
The Garrettsville man was found guilty of the charges on Feb. 24.
Wymer, who is a registered sex offender and on probation, was accused of sex acts with three children ages 8, 11, and 12.
He was indicted on a ten-count indictment charging him with rape and gross sexual imposition in September.
The indictment stated the incidents happened over a two-year span that began in late 2018. A provision that would declare Wymer a sexually violent predator was also included in the indictment.
Wymer had previously turned down a plea deal in the case.
