Driver sentenced in fiery crash that killed son of Austintown teacher

An Akron man pleaded no contest and was found guilty on charges connected to a fiery crash that killed the son of an Austintown teacher.
Christopher Lonkart was found guilty of vehicular manslaughter in Akron Municipal Court Tuesday.
Lonkart was accused of swerving across two lanes of traffic on August 25 on Route 8 in Akron to avoid a blown out tire from a tanker truck.
He hit 18-year-old Jared Marcum's car while swerving which caused him to hit the tanker truck.
Marcum's car became stuck under the tanker and the crash sparked a massive explosion.
He was the son of Jason Marcum, a special education teacher at Austintown Intermediate School.
Lonkart was sentenced to 90-days of house arrest, one-year probation and his license will be suspended for two years.
