Crews are working to restore electricity in the city of Niles.

A 9-1-1 caller reported that sparks were coming from a utility pole on the 300 block of Ward Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. Friday.

Power was out in parts of the city, which includes traffic lights. One caller reported that lights were blinking along Main Street.

The outage area includes the downtown, south side, and west end of the city. 

Crews from the light department expected to restore much of the power soon, but said the south side may be out longer.
