Sebring man accused of strangling, tasering woman in Warren motel

WARREN, Ohio - A not guilty plea has been entered by a Sebring man accused of strangling and tasering a woman he was allegedly attempting to sexually assault at a Warren motel.
Jeffrey White, 38, pleaded not guilty to one count of felonious assault during a video arraignment in Warren Municipal Court on Monday.
White was arrested over the weekend on a warrant issued following a May 1 incident at the Riverview Motel on Parkman Road NW.
According to a police report, two people outside the motel kicked in the door to one of the rooms when they heard a woman screaming.
The men told police they found a man attempting to sexually assault a 41-year-old woman while strangling her with an extension cord and using a stun gun on her at the same time.
One of the witnesses said he struck the suspect with a chair.
The suspect ran to a car and drove away, but not before another witness managed to grab some paperwork from the car’s glove box. One of the documents was the car’s registration. Police say they used the vehicle identification number to track down the suspect, Jeffrey White.
Investigating officers say they found an extension cord and a taser on the floor of the room.
The woman was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment.
As of Tuesday, White remained in the county jail. Another court hearing in the case is scheduled for June 17.
