Widower files $10M lawsuit against driver in Homeworth house crash

The widower of a Columbiana County woman killed when a pickup truck crashed into their home is suing the driver and the company he worked for.
Joshua Moreland has filed a $10 million wrongful death lawsuit in Columbiana County Common Pleas against Joseph Matz and Homeworth Fab and Machine.
Investigators say Matz was driving a GMC Sierra that veered off Knox School Road in Homeworth Township on January 3, 2021, and drove into a home where Jennifer Moreland, her husband Joshua, and two children were sleeping.
Jennifer Moreland died. Her husband was seriously injured.
The negligence lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages to cover emotional distress allegedly suffered by the surviving family members, as well as medical bills and damages to the home, which according to the suit, was destroyed.
Answers to the suit, which seeks a jury trial, have not yet been filed in court.
Matz, 20, has pleaded not guilty to six counts, including aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault, which are both felony charges.
