United Local Schools holds band back from game after COVID-19 outbreak
The United Local School District held their marching band back from attending Friday's football game against East Canton due to reports of several positive cases among band members, according to a statement from the school.
The school district, located in Columbiana County, is asking any band member who attended the previous football game against Minerva on August 20th to stay home until Tuesday. The statement makes an exception to this if the student is fully vaccinated.
United has not yet mandated masks for their students or staff, and says they have not changed their policy as a result of this outbreak.
The statement adds, "we encourage students and parents to consider masking while indoors if for no other reason than to avoid quarantine guidelines from the Department of Health."
The school says they are conducting contact tracing at this time.
