NILES, Ohio - Summer fire hydrant flushing will start this week in Niles.

The Niles Fire Department will be administering bi-annual city wide hydrant flushing to help maintain water quality and to evaluate the effectiveness of all hydrants serviced by the city of Niles.

The summer flushing program will begin Tuesday, September 7 and will last about two to three weeks, as long as weather is permitting. Three crews will be flushing hydrants in various areas each day.

Residents in the Niles area may experience low water pressure, and discoloration may appear in the water for a short period of time. If discoloration is experienced, Niles Fire Department suggests to run cold water until the discoloration disappears.
