After a year and a half of the pandemic, the CDC says more states are seeing their obesity rates go up.
One of the new states just added to the list this year is Ohio.
The CDC lists Ohio with 35.5% of it's adult population obese.
The agency said the number of states reporting at least 35% of their population are obese has nearly doubled in the last three years.
Sixteen states are now on the list. In 2018, it was just nine.
The CDC said it will take a comprehensive effort from all parts of society to change these rising rates.
In addition, obesity increases the risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
