CVS has announced Friday in light of CDC approval that select CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic locations will be offering Pfizer booster shots to all eligible individuals, effective immediately.

Aproximately 5,600 stores across the country will be offering booster shots, including 220 in Ohio.

According to CDC guidelines, people age 65 and over and residents in a long-term care setting should receive a booster shot of the Pfizer vaccine six months after completing their primary series.

People between the ages of 50 through 64 with certain underlying medical conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes will also be eligible for the booster shot and should receive it six months after completing the primary series.

People aged 18 though 49 at high risk for COVID-19 due to certain underlying medical conditions may receive the booster shot six months after completing the primary series.

People aged 18 through 64 who are at increased risk for COVID exposure due to the nature of their job or institutional setting may receive the booster shot six months after completing the primary series.

Individuals who have received the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines do not qualify for booster shots at this time per guidance from public health agencies.

Qualifying individuals who are interested in receiving their booster shot can make an appointment on CVS's or MinuteClinic's website to ensure that they have easy access to the vaccine at a convenient time and location.

When scheduling an appointment, patients will be asked to provide the date of their last vaccination, as well as the manufacturer and will be able to register for a booster if they received the Pfizer vaccine six months before registering for a booster.

Patients will also be asked to self-assess their eligibility in order to reduce barriers to access for the eligible population.
